About Linda Harris Reynolds

Internationally recognized portraitist, Linda Harris Reynolds creates memorable portraits for families and individuals from her historic Howard Pyle Studio in Wilmington, DE.; working for the past thirty-five years. Linda’s lively painting style captures the personality of her subjects, and reflects a blending of Classical Realism and Impressionism.

Portraits of Distinction:

Her most recent official portraits includes Delaware’s First Lady, Ms. Tracey Quillen Carney; which will hang in the Governor’s Mansion Woodburn in Dover, Delaware; Dean John A. Pelesko, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from the University of DE,and the president of Cecil College, Dr. Mary Way Bolt.Other commissions include: Dr. Michael Guarino,Founder of Medical Oncology Hemoltalogy Consultants at Christiana Care,Founder Mr. Morton Richard Kimmel Esq. of the Delaware law firm: Kimmel, Carter, Roman, Peltz, and O’Neil, and the commission to paint past Headmaster of Sanford School, Mr.Gordon Schofield.

International Awards:

In the past five years Linda has received six significant national and international awards including the American Art Materials Award from the Pastel Society of America in 2023 (then invited to exhibit her work at The Butler Institue of American Art as a prize winner). Most Recently she was delighted to be a Finalist in the The Art Renewal Center’s 17th ARC International Salon Competition 2024 (out of over 5000 entries) and also in 2022 out of 6000 entries. “Best Pastel” in July 2021 and July 2020 in the Plein Air Magazine’s Annual Salon Competitions. In November 2019 she received an “Honorable Mention”in the NTDTV’s 5th International Figure Painting Exhibition at the Salmagundi Art Club in New York City.In May 2019 she received a “Certificate of Excellence”from the Portrait Society of America’s “The Art of The Portrait” Competition in Atlanta,GA. She was very honored to have been selected from a group of approximately 3000 international applicants.

TV Coverage:
Most recently Ms Reynolds was filmed in her studio for FOX29 Philadelphia for their “The 215” Cultural Arts Segment,which aired on December 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2024.
In July 2017 WHYY TV Wilmington/Philadelphia showcased Ms. Reynolds’ work in their cultural arts segment “First”, which received an Emmy nomination from the National Academy of Arts and Sciences,Mid-Atlantic Chapter.

Linda continues her supporting role as the Delaware State Ambassador to the Portrait Society of America since 2009, as well as being a mentor for the past two years in their Cecilia Beaux Program; mentoring artists from the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates.

Formal Training:

The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, The University of the Arts, and The Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy; as well as specialized training in portrait and figure painting from the Art Students League, NYC; The National Academy of Fine Arts, NYC, The Grand Central Academy,NYC: Studio Incamminati, Philadelphia, PA, and the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy and Jersey City Mana Arts.

Represented by The National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., and The Portrait Associates in Raleigh, N.C.,and New South Portraits

Linda established The Centreville Art Student’s League, a small private Atelier where she has taught classical portrait and figure painting classes seasonally for the past 15 years.She continues to receive commissions throughout the east coast.
